Residential Program at Pine Ridge School

Pine Ridge Schools’ Residential Program allows students to live and learn in a five-day or a seven-day dorm. The health and safety of our residential students is our top priority, and our faculty, staff, and administrators take every precaution to ensure the health and safety of our Oglala Lakota youth. Our residential program’s rules, regulations, and responsibilities are designed to support and protect students’ social, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and overall well-being.

Maintaining comprehensive healthcare forms and documentation keeps staff informed about residential students’ healthcare needs (e.g., allergies, medications, asthma, etc.). Parents/guardians must provide our offices with any new permissions or health status updates in writing. All health insurance benefits and permissions for medical treatment forms must be submitted to the school as soon as possible. Oglala Lakota residential students' needs are addressed in one-on-one, familial, and corporate settings as necessary.

Pine Ridge Schools Residential Department will need signed permission slips from parents/guardians before students can attend and participate in school-sponsored field trips. We provide the optional opportunity for students to attend Inipi (sweat lodge ceremony) every month. Other religious organizations may also have activities for students to attend in the community. Parents/guardians may submit their objections to these activities in writing or give their permission by signing the Parent Information and Permission Request Form.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to participate in telephone conferences and schedule a visit to the dorm/school to meet with staff. Staff, parents/guardians, and residential students are responsible for fostering a safe and productive learning environment. We promote constant communication between teachers, students, and guardians to foster a strong partnership. Educators are always available in person, over the phone, or through email.

For more information on the Pine Ridge Schools Residential Program, please review the information and guidelines in our Student Enrollment Application and Forms.
