Healthy Eating at Pine Ridge Schools

Our school district prioritizes the health of our students by providing meals filled with fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy. These meals are carefully crafted to meet or exceed nutrition requirements, supporting the overall well-being of our students.

We have integrated healthy nutritional choices into our program in the following ways:

  • Actively promote healthy eating habits through daily announcements, vibrant displays and staff training to encourage students to make nutritious choices.
  • Provide free, safe, unflavored drinking water to all students throughout the school day and across the campus for overall well-being.
  • Prioritize offering healthy food and beverage options at school-sponsored events, ensuring students can enjoy celebrations without compromising on their well-being.
  • Providing alternative incentives for celebrations and rewards at our school that do not involve food or beverages, fostering a positive and healthy school culture that focuses on achievements and well-being.
  • Foods and beverages sold during fundraisers on campus adhere to USDA Smart Snacks standards, providing nutritious options for both parents and students.
  • Integrating nutrition education into various subjects ensures students receive a comprehensive understanding of healthy eating habits and practices.
  • Consistency in marketing guidelines ensures that only products meeting or exceeding USDA Smart Snacks standards are promoted or marketed to students on campus.

For more details on our approach and guidelines, please refer to our comprehensive Wellness Policy. Thank you for joining us in prioritizing the health and well-being of our students at Pine Ridge Schools.
